Are you or someone you know buckling under the stress of caregiving? Are you caring for an older adult who would benefit from supervised activities and socialization outside the home?

Local adult day programs may be the answer. Operated by the VNA’s Aging Well program, adult day programs are open at the Rollingstone Respite House in Steamboat Springs and The Haven in Hayden.

Staffed by Certified Nursing Assistants, our Adult Day programs provide older adults:

• -Attentive supervision
  -Help with bathing and other daily needs
  -Lunch (a half-day without lunch is available)
  -Socialization with staff and other participants
  -Exercise options
  -A home-like environment to enjoy hobbies and other interests

The programs can be a win-win situation for older adults and their caregivers: Participants receive much-needed stimulation and socialization outside the home while caregivers take a breath and fulfill other responsibilities.

Participants come to the centers for half days or full days. They may follow a weekly schedule or come when it is convenient. Overnight respite also is available at both facilities.

The Haven (Hayden)
Open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Friday
Fees:   
All day: $68
Half day w/lunch: $48
Half day: $40                                                               

Rollingstone Respite House (Steamboat Springs)
Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday – Friday
Fees:   
All day: $85
Half day w/lunch: $60
Half day: $50

The Haven program currently accepts Medicaid. The Rollingstone program is in the process of becoming Medicaid certified. Some long-term care insurance companies also cover adult day services. Other resources, such as Northwest Colorado Options for Longterm Care, also are available to help caregivers with adult day and other costs.
